2017 Oscars Red Carpet and After Parties

On Sunday night the great and the good gathered at the Dolby Theatre for the 89th Academy Awards.
Here are our picks of the best dressed and those that failed miserably to dress for the occasion.

We had wanted to post this earlier in the week so that it was more relevant, but due to the sheer numbers and the additional After Parties we could not get it out in time. But now it’s here, here are our choices and thoughts.

Hallie Steinfeld
Her & Him: Hands down we agreed this was the best outfit of the night. She looked stunning, sexy and so elegant.

                                                                   Sofia Carson

A close second came this Princess dress with rhinestone flowers.

Her Best Dressed

Kate McKinnon                         Janelle Monae                             Auli’i Cravalho

His Best Dressed

Alicia Vikander                               Karlie Kloss                                  Emma Stone

The Best Dressed Men

Dwayne Johnson    Terence Howard      Mahershala Ali                Jackie Chan

The ‘Almost great but not quite’.

Salma Hayek                            Kirsten Dunst                                  Taraji P Henson
Chrissy Teigen                             Octavia Spencer                      Debbie Matenpoulos
Viola Davis                           Alison Schroader                            Halle Berry

 Worst Dressed

There were a lot of badly dressed people but only three made us want to scream at the screen…

Blanca Bianco                                     Leslie Mann                         Dakota Johnson

Then they all headed off to the After Parties, to celebrate, commiserate or just loiter about making people take photos of them…

Allison Williams – Eliza Gonzalez – Heidi Klum – Sara Sampaio – Jennifer Aniston

Lilly Collins – Kate Beckinsale – Jessica Lowndes

Katy Perry – Jessica Biel – Alessandra Ambrosio – Poppy Delevingne

Emily Ratajkowski – Sophia Vegara – Stella Maxwell – Josephine Skriver – Hailee Steinfeld

Viola Davis – Nicola Peltz – Lydia Hearst-Shaw – Josephine Skriver (again)

Josephine Skriver went to every party and changed en-route, She looked stunning every time too, no mean feat.

Kate Bosworth – Karlie Kloss

And the bad, awful and mhh looks…
Just a few comments on these

Sarah Paulson – Scarlett Johansson – Dakota Johnson – Gabrielle Union

Sarah Paulson clearly can’t wear anything without making it look bad. Was the jacket attached to Scarlet’t’s dress, it didn’t seem to come off. Dakota must hate her stomach, because always wears a bow, a flap or peplum and ruins the outfit.

Janina Gavankar – Mariah Carey – Petra Nemcova – Demi Lovato

Janina – Oh dear, Mariah, Oh dear, oh dear.

Jared Leto – Rooney Mara – Emma Stone – Alan Cumming

Emma Stone looks like she just wanted to be comfortable and party the night away. Mr. Cumming go home, you are a disgrace.

Thandie Newton – Jessica Alba – Barbara Meier – Diane Kruger
Oh dear Ms. Alba.
Barbara Meier’s dress made her look such an odd shape and her cleavage look really, really weird and pale.

So there you go, what do you think of our selection?

  1. Thank you for the sensible critique. Me and my neighbor were just preparing to do some research about this. We got a grab a book from our local library but I think I learned more from this post. I am very glad to see such excellent info being shared freely out there.
