CM9

April 2015 was a momentous month for this blog, yes it was the month we decide to start a blog and we came up with the name Climbing-Moss named after the most important things in our lives – our dogs (kind of). But CM has changed a lot since then and we thought we should take a look back and see how it and we have changed in that time.

David Cameron was campaigning to be re-elected for the 2nd term as the new Conservative Prime Minister (the rot had already started), and Jeremy Clarkson had just punched his producer, 50 Shades of Grey had just come out and Taylor Swift was Turning Bad Boys good for a weekend in Style!

And we had started a blogger blog a few months before, but soon realised it wasn’t working, due to the constraints of the site and the limitations of the free plan we had to migrate to WordPress and kind of start again! These days those original posts from Blogger don’t even exist and the first post on here is a ‘About Us’ that is missing photos and reads like 2 different people in places. But 40 pages of a blog a week has brought us to here.

A couple of weeks ago while trying to update the Coffee Shop Map we noticed those first posts and realised how much we had changed and how our lives and what we post about have changed, so we wanted to share how and why Climbing Moss isn’t what it once was and try to predict where it is going in the future. But that first post was a little confused trying to give our individual voices in one post so a bit like reading an argument! While trying to describe the blog as and our interests. At first it seemed a struggle to get Bob to write anything or give an opinion (oh how things have changed!) Our music choices then were clearly Taylor Swift and the Jonas Brothers, Some things have not changed though, we still have a hatred of the stupid, Chavs and the Narrow Minded.

Over the last 10 years we have learnt to like ourselves a bit better but also become more aware of our limitations and the limits of our existence, but it’s mostly that we have developed and changed and the blog really shows that. Both because of injuries and because of desires and new interests. We have moved away from/lost friends that were limiting us (mostly Ash) and we have spent a lot of time (and money) on our pets and our new interests. These days Climbing Moss and Ash and Bob are very different from they were in 2015.

We (unfortunately) aren’t climbing, due to numerous injuries and though we still get a lot of SEO searches for reviews of Climbing Walls of London, we haven’t squeezed our feet into rubber shoes for over 2 years now. Our musical tastes have definitely changed, although we still like the occasional bit of (old) Taylor Swift these days it’s almost exclusively Korean Pop (and a bit of J Rock for good measure).

And our reviews of albums and movies has also stopped because of the same reason – the love of the Asian Sub Continent that has taken over our lives! Bob is all but fluent and Ash is confused in Korean, Japanese is fascinating us as much and we consume far too many KDramas and smear KBeauty over our bodies on a daily basis. So we have reviewed these recently but can’t even name a British Musical Artist beyond Ed Sheeran or Coldplay, so there is no point trying to review the highest streamed UK chart album, because we don’t even know (goes to look…) Noah Kohan (WHO?!)

Our Coffee Shop ratings have also changed we visit a lot more indie shops nowadays so we now do between 4 or 5 Shops per post instead of a singular shop. In visiting more we have also refined what we like and what we really loath hence the Coffee map was born and as mentioned a couple of weeks ago we have updated what closed etc and added our reviews to Google.

So what does that mean for Climbing-Moss.com in 2024 and onwards? Well, originally our tagline was Climbing, Coffee and Contemplations now it seems best to describe us as…

Coffee, Craft Beer and Korean Culture with hints of Creativity and the occasional Complaint!!

So there we have it just a little description of the progression of the blog and what to expect moving forward!

Hopefully one day we might get back to Climbing so keep with us on that.

So, come back soon for more of those Coffee Shop reviews, more beer or another Korean influenced post!
