So we’ve shared all the experiences on Jeju Island, and now it’s time to share our culinary adventures, including the delicious food and drinks we sampled during our visit.
Seabong Kitchen on Taepeongno-ro
Friday night because we arrived later and missed the dinner time we wandered for a while until we found the only restaurant that seemed open and welcoming. We entered the Café, a dark eclectic interior with lots of interesting trinkets and things too look at which gave more of a homely/comforting vibe rather than the usual Korean BBQ joints with the plastic tables and chairs etc.
Surprisingly Bob had the vegetarian Spaghetti with a Jeju Pale Ale – It wasn’t sweet! finally!!!!!
Ash had Seafood Linguine and a Hoegaarden. – The Pasta was the best i’ve ever had! This dish is one of those if its on the menu I will pick it and yes it was the best decision.

Saturday we spent the day in the indoor Olle Market because it was pouring down with rain. We had a few drinks of Iced coffees (see our coffee post next week) in there and Freshly squeezed Hallabong orange juice which was Delliiiiccccioooouuusssss!! (Says Bob, Ash was unfazed.)
By the time dinner came around we knew where we were heading – on our way back from the Ecology center with Ice cream in hand (We could actually eat ice cream without stomach aches!) we headed back to Seabong to try some of the other dishes on the Menu.
Bob had Chickpea Steak and vegetables – which was so good, a little dry with the patties but the sauce made up for that.

Ash had Lasagne/Spaghetti – Again this was really good! There was enough spice and a lot of flavor.
Sinlungpu Malatang 제주섬신룽푸마라탕.
This was our first time trying Malatang – which was pretty interesting. You get given a large mixing bowl which you can fill with as much or as little stuff as you want – all presented to you in a buffet style central unit – where you use tongs to pick what you want.
Then take it to the counter to pick your broth and pay per Gram.
They cooked our food as we picked up a couple of beers watched a couple of English (vegan) tourists choosing fish – we would have helped but they gave us dirty looks that we decided to leave them to it.

The food was really good! Afterwards we headed downstairs to the ….
We looked a the menu took a seat with Groot and immediately spotted a sour for Bob’s – Pulbaegae (lemon basil sour) Which was sooooo yummy!!! I could have drank a gallon of it (which is funny because..)
Ash’s picked the Peanutnutnut – (A Peanut Butter Stout) – I really enjoyed this surprisingly as I hate Peanut butter. This beer was really nice – super rich and creamy with nutty undertones.
The measurements were peculiar – but after looking at the menu and contemplating what to buy we took the plunge and bought two 1500ml bottles to take back to the hotel.
Bob had no issues downing her sour but Ash struggled with the thickness/heaviness of the stout.
Monday – Street Ttaebbokki
On the way back from Ash’s hospital visit he walked through the Olle Market and found a vendor selling Ttbaebokki – he forgot to take a photo but we found a vague one off of google. The rice cakes were yummy! not amazing but it was pretty good, not overly pork/fish flavored.
피치랑서귀포점 – Pichirang – Chicken and Pizza Take Away The Fried Chicken was sooo good!!
Ash got the Fried chicken and Bob got a Vegetarian Pizza both of which were SOOOOO GOOODDD!
We bought sandwiches at the airport whilst we waited for our flight – from the only sandwich place.
The staff were really rude and said they didn’t understand Seoul accents (which in one way was a compliment but in the other was ridiculous!) All in all both of the rolls were dry and very meh.
Honorable mentions

Both of us fell in love with the Delatte sachet drinks – Bob with the Grapefruit Uva and Ash with the Blue Lemonade. In fact we tried every single flavor by the end of the Holiday.
Also being that we were in Jeju we had to have a Hallabong! Which weren’t too bad – the Juice was nicer but still juicy and flavorsome!
