This week we are back with the coffee shops, this time all over the place….
Fieldseat – Tottenham
Fieldseat was strange – the staff were nice, the food was expensive and the coffee was very bitter.
The decor was cool though, lots of random objects and tons of seating inside, we sat outside due to the shopping trolleys we were lugging around that day. We ordered the usual coffees and a Feta and Spinach filo wraps and the Mozzarella Fries. What we got was well as you can see, tiny tubes of pastry, the food was tasty, but so few and not worth £15 the coffee was expensive to – over £10!
It is a shame it’s a nice cafe but in such a horrible location and the only place to get coffee. it seems.
La Maison – Calabria Road N5 Highbury
We have walked past La Maison so many times and thought ‘Maybe… naaaah!’ simply because it looks very French and Trendy. But on a cold, wet late afternoon we noticed it was open, so we dared…
Just be aware certain times equal certain clientele, hence our previous hesitations -From 11am-2pm is the Mummy and baby crowd, lots of little tykes all protesting and crying, big buggies fill the front of the shop with blonde haired obnoxious brats all demanding more, more, more.
Then from 2pm to 5pm, when it closes it is filled with the Laptop and Moustache brigade, the trendy hipsters.
This place is always packed and it was open past 4pm. that in itself is amazing! – Take note London it is possible!! The staff were really nice, all jovial and chatty, the coffee was a decent size and was actually really good.
Cafe Manoppello – Tottenham court road.
Opposite outernet on Charing Cross road is a church, it must has been there for a long time but we never noticed it and a sign pointing the crypt indicate there was a Coffee shop.
A coffee shop in a church?!?
Which was a little strange, everyone was so ‘friendly’! but it burned Bob’s feet to stand in there! So she left quickly and waited for Ash to emerge with the cups in hand..
The very, very small cups. The coffee was inconsistent, one was sweet and quite good and the other quite bitter.
Brood – Essex Road
We have walked past here a hundred times and never gone in because every shop that is in this location is there for 6 months, then closes down and it’s always some trendy, over priced, tiny portions, kind of place – But in need of caffeine, Bob finally did go in and the coffee was really good! One member of staff who was really friendly and made the coffee really quite quickly.
The shop is pretty small but looks like its undergoing some renovations to the seating area probably to add more seating towards the back and maybe the same wooden tables – to match the other Coffee shops nearby.
So there you go some more Coffee shops for you to try or avoid who knows?!
