BioMin Toothpaste

A Couple of months ago a representative of Biomin contacted us asking if we had ever tried their toothpastes. Well we hadn’t but thankfully they sent us some to try and then to review…. Here is what we found.

In the past we have tried and reviewed a couple of Teeth whitening/toothpastes and have used a number of different pastes over the years including Vardis , Prescription, Charcoal and Aloe Vera types but this time we had three to try out.

We were three different types to try; Biomin C, Biomin F and Children’s Strawberry flavour.

Biomin as a company has created an additive to their toothpaste – “Biomin” which is to help with sensitivity both a treatment and a preventative.

We started off trying the Biomin C.

We tried it and only then realised the C type has no fluoride, that’s kind of like having Decaf Coffee or Alcohol free Beer! What is the point? Surely you need Fluoride to help clean your teeth?

So the main difference in the C type is that the fluoride has been replaced with Chloride which sticks to your tooth and helps prevent wear from acidic foods/drinks.

But what did we think? The paste had a pleasant taste but was far too thin and ended up too watery before even finishing a clean. We have not been impressed 😦 Although our teeth felt a little cleaner after a brush (not overly so) but they looked a lot duller – if we had drank coffee our teeth would still end up stained. Perhaps the benefits are more on a chemical level but we do want whitening and shiney teeth – so we were a little disappointed.

Then came Biomin F

The F word – Fluoride has been added into this paste – however it’s still very low (under half) in comparison to a lot of other pastes we have tried 600 ppm compared to 1450 ppm on average but Vardis was 5000 ppm.

The noticeable difference was this actually foamed though still watery it does produce a LOT of foam! However my teeth felt no better – and after consulting with a dentist it was found there seemed to be some plaque build up which has never been said before. I was advised to go back to my previous toothpaste at my last check up.

Children’s F Paste (Strawberry flavor)

Similar to the F Paste – but marginally more foamy and with a sweet but subtle strawberry hint. I personally prefer my toothpaste with a more minty taste but it would probably be good for a small human.

The other side note to this review is the presentation of a product – you want something a little stylish to go in your bathroom this sadly was missing. The whole design was very generic and simple.

What We Liked

Free from animal testing

Vegan

The Flavor

No Sensitivity

What we Disliked.

The Dullness of our teeth afterward

The Wateriness

The F was marginally better with the foam but not much

Overall

We won’t be using this toothpaste again – it will go in the back of the cupboard incase of emergency but it was a good experience all the same. As stated there may have been some benefits that were unseeable to the naked eye but we cannot attest to that.
