Last week we wrote about the food in Seoul, this week we will run through all of the coffee shops we visited.
One thing we haven’t mentioned for the Coffee posts for Busan, Jeju and this is the prices – Generally a two coffees which were fairly substantial/large cups were the equivalent of one Small (thimble) Artisan coffee in London. For one coffee it was ₩3,100 which is the equivalent to £1.50.
Billy Angel – 513 Yeongdong-daero
Up the escalator in Starfield Library In Coex Mall passing the famous bookcases that reach to the sky is a small Coffee shop/cake shop. The shop was really white and super clean! but was more of a walkthrough rather than a sit inside and drink.
The staff were really grumpy and seemed upset that we broke up their chat – but took our order. The cups were really small (not england small, but Korea small!) That being said the coffee’s were really good!
Cafe Rosso – 81-12 Samcheong-ro

Whilst walking around in Hanboks we found ourselves in the Hanok Village (in the modern section) Nestled in amongst the boutiques and galleries we spotted this little Coffee Shop.
For once we actually didn’t get coffee here instead we got Strawberry & Blueberry smoothie and a Lemon/lime ade It was really good! The staff were super friendly but we drank it too quickly!
Compose Coffee – 18 Myeongdong 7-gil
Compose Coffee (or as Ash dubbed it Compost Coffee – as he misread it) as we said a couple of weeks ago was a really good shop! so good we celebrated when they opened a branch in London – So so so many choices! We did struggle with a number of branches in Korea as they only accepted card but thankfully this branch took our order in person and we could pay cash.
The coffees were really good but there were too many choices which was overwhelming with such a short time to try them all – if you worked in the area, you would probably work your way through the menu day by day – or at least we would.
Ediya – 103 Toegye-ro
A small shop up a flight of stairs – near the smoking area for all of the Myeongdong businesses. We got our drinks to go and found a local green area outside the bank with some seating areas and drank them here – whilst we opened our K-pop albums. I think this was as per usual really really good!
Twosome place – Multiple Locations
We visited a number of these shops over our stay in Seoul – for Coffee, Juice, Ade, Cakes and Bingsu – It was so good!!! We had two branches really close to where we were staying so it was really convenient.
This was one of the best deserts we have ever had!!! I finally got to eat actual real Bingsu!
Twosome place is open till really late and people are still in there at 11pm (we were amazed!) In Hongdae they close at 11.30pm and informed us when we arrived at 9pm of their closing time – apologising for closing earlier.
Terarosa – POSCO Center
This was really busy but filled with Corporate people – the Coffees were small and rather meh in comparison to the rest of the coffees we had consumed in and around Seoul.
We took it to go and sat on the side of Cheonggyecheon river the size was surprising and disappointing and the coffee wasn’t much better.
Oh Dinary – 331-2 Seogyo-dong
This was a small little shop on the second floor, up some very steep stairs – the staff were really nice, the place was very airy and clean and had a Jazz vibe. The coffee was really good – it’s a shame it was so small but we did really like it in there.
Sunny Bread – 33-15 yongsan-dong 2(i)-ga
Saw them on Tiktok in a really pretty shop with a big open garden, glass fronted building – we went there and was disappointed. It took a while to find due to it being a small second floor unit – with lots of chairs and tables and loads of screaming Children. Mostly American mums all having a game night at 4pm.
The owner Sunny is really nice and chatty – it seemed a shame it was such a let down and not what we had been looking forward to.
The drinks at first taste was not great but after mixing it a bit it was pretty decent – We got Chocolate Mocha and a Strawberry Latte.
Sarang Cafe Gyeongbokgung – 161 Sajik-ro
On the day we found out you cannot simply go and view the Secret Garden at the Changdeokgung Palace, we instead got some coffee to go.
There wasn’t much choice in what to order but the coffee wasn’t bad – they were pretty big cups and were nice.
Cafe Pokpo -262-29 Yeonhui-ro
The coffee shop underneath the motorway with a Beautiful View of the artificial Hongjecheon Waterfall. We clearly shouldn’t have picked Sunday morning to see this as the place was absolutely packed! We ordered and waited around for 20mins at least for our drinks. Although there seemed to be loads of staff there seemed to be only one person making drinks who looked very much like IU.
There was a silly selfie section right in the middle of the seating area, with a constant stream of people coming and doing various poses in front of the view.
The coffee itself was ok the cake was meh.
Starbucks – Jeokseongdong
We went to a number of Starbucks during our time in Seoul mostly buying Frappuccinos but we also got some cakes – as there was choice here! The drinks were good as usual and the chocolate cake was delicious.
So there we go – a couple of recommendations from us in Seoul – if you have any suggestions or we missed any do leave us a comment and give us another excuse to return.
