This is the second post of KPop Groups this time, The Girls because there are a loooooooot of bands.
A few years back when we first started getting into K-Pop the Korean Music Scene we named as many bands as we could told you what we liked, what we didn’t and named our Bias’s (and Wreckers), but that list is seriously outdated and so it’s time for an update.
K-Pop is the general Pop Music of Korea and it is a wide genre of music, anything from Tweeny Pop to Full Bands bordering on Stadium Rock and most bands don’t play instruments in their act (though most can and do given a chance) and the genre is full of terms and phrases.
For this post we will stick mostly to a few set uses, namely Bias (the preferred member of the group and a Wrecker is the 2nd member who threatens to ‘wreck’ your goo-goo eyes for your bias), POB or Photo-cards are small credit card photos you receive with the albums that you buy direct from Korea, much like Soul and R&B bought fans would have US Imports in the 70’s & 80’s – yes actual CD albums bought but rarely ever actually played and an ‘Album’ can be what the Westerners would call a single, an EP and these days rarely a Full Album, most groups release 4 or 5 track ‘Albums’ – Music Shows Wins – equivalent to getting a Number 1, there are multiple categories and multiple shows to ‘win’ on, not just Top of the Pops or CDUK as it used to be here!. Oh and the Fandom names, every group has its loyal fans and they have names somehow related to the band name and we are a very loyal bunch and extremely friendly too!

Ash – Read the details on the K-Profile Link as there is a lot of info on there, but essentially, this is a BIG Band, possibly the largest KPop band, there are JPop bands with 100’s of members, but this is big enough, with 27 members, for the most part they perform as sub-groups, but did release a full group single this year. Fan can suggest Sub Units and the members can change sub groups, it’s a ‘Decentralised Group’. As to Bias, there are a lot to chose from and I am still finding my feet around SSS but they have a Chaewon!

Ash – Twice seem to have always been around, they are one of the first bands you get into when you first start listening to KPop, they are the female equivalent to BTS, they have a massive Discography in full group and sub groups and now in Solo projects too.

Ash – As mentioned above, the three piece are the active members of the former group, GFriend and my bias’s from that group are still the same in this group. I love Eunha and when she was on Queendom, I really wanted her to do better than she did, but the shy female kept being made to sing higher and higher (which she did), but she has a deep range too and when she is allowed or caught singing ‘comfortably’ her Alto range is so soothing, we need more soulful Eunha!
Bob – I have albums of them but I can’t say I’ve listened to them – again a bit cutesy for me.

Ash – This is one band we have definate feelings about, basically we don’t like them, they are a Cocky, brash, rude group, with a couple of exceptions which are the Introverted members that get told to ‘Shut Up’ Live on Screen. Yeoreum is also in ElZuP – the winners from Queendom Puzzle – where she managed to shine unlike in WJSN.
