Recently we have been going around a bit more of London than usual and on these ventures we have been looking for new coffee so here is the round up of the most recent discoveries.
WatchHouse – Battersea Power Station
We found ourselves early for Solo’s Hydrotherapy recently so whilst waiting around we noticed a number of new Coffee shops have popped up, mostly near the new exit of the station. So we thought we would give this one a go, as it looked fairly busy and well appointed.
An order of the usual Mocha (Oat) and a couple of pastries resulted in a shockingly high price tag of just under 20 pounds. This surprisingly was mostly due to the Coffees which were 12 pound alone.
The coffees themselves were pretty small, lukewarm at best and not really anything outstanding it was just a whole load of meh. The staff were nice, the place looked nice and clean probably somewhere good to go and work other than that it was nothing remarkable.
Tin – Haggerston
We have cycled past here many times back in the before times and so we have always meant to pop in. Well we finally got the chance the other week whilst walking the dogs when in the area. The interior is eclectic with a bit of literally everything, puppets, cinema seats, potted plants, crochets, fliers for anything including hemp yoga pants. It’s random, it’s bright it’s quirky.
We got two of the usual and off we went, after a brief chat with the staff who was very proud of his shop. The coffees were pretty good, decent size, a little tepid but that was all there was to complain about.
Again another outing with Solo this time to the Vets, now there is very little in terms of indie coffee shops around the Victoria area but this one seemingly has popped up since the last time we were there.
The staff were really nice, bringing a fresh bowl of water out to Solo straight away then showing us the menu and having a nice chat. We ordered the usual Two Mochas with a Lamington which was delicious! We will have to visit again when we are in the area.
Not our usual neck of the woods but we found ourselves on Kings Road recently and decided to give it a go and see what the fuss was about. The large restaurant has grown and is now a restaurant, a exhibition/art collective and much more inside the building. We sat in the Courtyard as it was a nice day and just ordered the usual Mochas.
It did take a very long time for such a small order but they seemed overwhelmed with orders of Negroni – I guess its the area’s official drink. When they did arrive they were in fairly small cups as you can see, very bitter and nothing fancy or different than some of the lesser coffees we have had. At £11.20 for both it was a bit of a ripoff.
So some hits and some misses, have you tried any of these places? Do you agree with the score? let us know in the comments.
