So back at it again with the drinking of caffeine. Here is what we thought of our most recent sips.
Ciro’s Coffee – Islington
Midway up Northampton Street, is the Ivories workplace, this is where you can find Ciro’s. A small Italian restaurant/cafe run by women, as their website explains.
We got there just before closing on a Tuesday afternoon in need of a cool drink on a hot day. The Staff member was really nice, letting us make our order and take a seat, even though she was closing up the shop.
The Coffee was good! Refreshing and really easy to drink almost in one go (hence the picture)
Origin Coffee – The British Library
We have passed this shop so many times over the years, but it always seemed like it was shut or inaccessible from the road. Recently we happened to be walking past and saw another person enter, so we followed.
We bought two different drinks: one Iced Mocha & one Iced Burnt Lemon Cold Brew. The Mocha was very flat white-esque, as in very little flavor – the chocolate, it turned out, was all stuck at the bottom of the cup. The Burnt Lemon – well, the top with the Oatly cream was horribly sour and very drying, but once you got past that, the lemon and cold brew was pretty good.
Dear Diana – Woodberry Down
We saw someone on TikTok who had discovered this shop. In the new development in Woodberry Down, under one of the tall high-rises. Unassuming from the outside but an eclectic/comfy vibe inside with painted murals and books adorning most of the walls.
We ordered two Iced Oat Mochas to go, as is standard on a hot day.
The coffees themselves were very nondescript, meh and a lot like a flat white. We know that when you make iced drinks you do put in a lot of milk, ice and espresso, but where was the chocolate or the flourish? The star we gave was for the decor and the staff.
Urban Baristas – Warren Street.
The other week we were looking for coffee in the Warren Street area again. There was a choice, so we had previously gone by Google reviews and tried Joon, which had really good reviews, so we were going to go for the second best rated on that road, ‘Qima,’ but we took one look at the size of the cups and turned back round. So we trusted our instincts instead and headed for Urban Baristas.
We are so glad we did!
The decor is pretty, the pictures on the wall were inspiring and it was really clean!
As we approached, the barista greeted us, he was really friendly and quick. What was the coffee like you may ask?
The coffee was amazing!
It was so good, it’s a 5 – ignore Google! This is the best coffee on Warren Street.
