Last week marked our very first girl group concert — and one of our favorite girl groups at that – ITZY. So, last Friday evening, we headed to Wembley to see what differences we’d notice between the fandoms.
Back in the before times, when Bob had fully gotten into K-pop and was looking for a way to get Ash into it too, ITZY was the first new girl group we explored.
Well, to cut a long story short, it worked! Ash got into the five-member girl group.
ITZY debuted in 2019 with Dalla Dalla, but we were probably actively listening to them by the time Not Shy came along. Ash eventually became a full-on Midzy, with a number of the members appearing in his top 10s, while Bob, although still a fan, isn’t quite as involved.
The last time we were at OVO was for The Rose back in 2025, so it had been a little while.
This time, though, there was a big difference.
As soon as we exited the station, we started spotting some rather strange outfits among the fans. There were a surprising number of food costumes — hot dogs, strawberries, bananas and all sorts of other food items. It was definitely something we hadn’t encountered at our previous concerts!
We had a bit of time before the show, so we stopped for a quick meal at The Box park, which was surprisingly busy. A large disco ball sat in the middle of the room, surrounded by various restaurants and an open seating area.
We grabbed a vegan burger and some fries to share. Unfortunately, both were pretty average and, considering the price £24, definitely didn’t feel worth it.
Then it was off to join the queue.
Oddly, there were no freebies to be had — something that has happened at every other K-pop show we’ve been to. We were also directed around to the left-hand side of the arena after a number of people were turned away for having rucksacks, which apparently are no longer allowed inside the arena.
The check-in process was pretty quick. We got inside, grabbed an expensive drink as per usual at these events, there wasn’t much of a choice so we opted for Cider and headed off to find our seats.
Surprisingly, we were actually fairly close to the stage — possibly the best view we’ve had at a concert so far.
We sat down and watched the screen cycle through the other groups under the JYP label. Some of them were met with absolutely deafening screams from the crowd and others we hadn’t even heard of. Then, before too long, the lights dimmed.
A short video of slow pans of each of the members, close-ups of features, eyes, lips and the like. Then moving into some cinematic visuals of a car crash, explosions with the girls walking through.
The performance began. Starting with Tunnel Vision – what the tour is named for – all dressed in Black with biker boots to go with the intro video. Then transitioned to DYT, which is still stuck in Ash’s head a week later.
Our seats were great, and we got some brilliant footage, photos, and views from where we were sitting.
There were a number of songs that were unfamiliar to Bob, but some of her favourites were performed too — In the Morning being her ultimate favourite of the group.
Ash was especially happy to finally hear Asylum live, as the last time ITZY came to London, Lia (Ash’s bias) was missing, so there wasn’t as much of a need to go. Since the song was predominantly in English, she admitted later she had been quite nervous. Ash actually thought the whole set was quite pretty despite being green!
Imaginary Friend was also played, which gave Bob goosebumps — something that doesn’t happen often!
The dance routines didn’t falter from the videos and the dancers even got a chance to shine by themselves.
There were four outfit changes throughout the show, as well as a different outfit for each of the solo performances.
After a brief interlude where there was another visual displayed with some really pretty pictures, almost like watching one of the photobooks.
Then into a Wild West theme, complete with a saloon.
There was also a very pretty dancer who managed to steal our attention more than once!
Overall, the group was really good. There wasn’t a huge amount of talking to the crowd, but when they did speak, it was almost always in English, which was, again, quite surprising.
There was a fan dance cam during the show, which seemed to focus mostly on the right side of the arena and the floor, where most people seemed to know the choreography.
After all of that, there was an encore, as there always is, where the members interacted with fans, waved, posed for photos, and even did a little hula-hooping with an inflatable ring.
All in all, the concert seemed to end fairly quickly, which was pretty sad, but at least we now know that they are just as good live as they are on their albums!
