Given the post about all the coffee shops to be found along The River Thames, we thought we add another post to the list. This time the coffee shops at the end of the compass points, so the most northern, eastern, southern and western that we have visited around London.
You can obviously see all of these from the map we have created and logged each sip over the years.
First off we should start in the centre, the technical central point of London, where it is all measured from.
The Charing Cross and the nearest recommended Coffee Shop to the statue and the station (that is not a chain) would be…
Notes – St. Martin’s Lane
Notes is probably the closet Returnable Coffee Shop to the center (to be honest we should explore that area a bit more) it isn’t the best in the area – that would be The Roasting Plant (Strand)
The Roasting Plant was number 3 on our top Coffee Shops of 2023. With the large selection of Coffees, Roasts and blends you can never really get bored.
Then the most Northerly is…
Trent Park Cafe – Cockfosters – but the Coffee was ok but not worth returning to.
The best coffee we have found in the northerly point is The Greenery (Turnpike Lane) There is a noticeable gap in our knowledge so we probably have to explore that area (North of Wood Green) a bit more this year. If you have some recommendations please do leave them in the comments.
But the best we can recommend is actually the most NE point and that would be…
Fabio’s – Debden
This little kiosk was a surprise to us – it is such a shame it is so far away from us.
Next to the most eastern point would be…
Well Bean Bakery – Gallion’s Reach
We haven’t been much further east than Gallion’s Reach – therefore it was an easy choice to say go here if you are in the area. You can drink your coffee whilst you watch the planes land.
Next in the south eastern corner here there is
Taste Eltham High Street is the best choice in the Eltham area – we have tried a few but none compare.
The furthest south – we have two!
Our favorite is Shotsmiths Coffee Clock house – A delicious cup of coffee – we aren’t sure if we would ever be able to locate it again (although its right next to the station)
Matthew’s Yard – West Croydon the only reason to ever return to Croydon ever! (not just our opinion)
Of Course there had to be a mention of a Collici Chain and in Southwest London the only place is Richmond Park (for us) Within is Pen Ponds Cafe. Collici never fail -as far as we can tell.
The most Westerly coffee Shop is…

Red Onion – Ruislip
The winner of the 2023 best coffee awards – so that pretty much says it all.
Well there you go a round-up of the furthest out points. We are looking to explore more this year and taste hopefully some delectable drinks
