While updating the Coffee Map the other day we thought about how we have certain areas that we visit a lot and we have favourites. But also how there are sections that are touristy or iconic, such as Parks, The City and along the River Thames. So that’s what we are sharing with you today.
The River through London is a long one, we have crossed it numerous times and sought out coffee on both sides. Sometimes it’s not so easy to find good coffee, so here is a round-up of what we like and don’t, starting to the west and moving east and limiting the maximum distance from the water to a few minutes and not including the Chains, only the good indies…
Codes used below:
Loves – Places we Love!
BTDT – Been There Done That
GBNG – Good But Not Great
Ch – Chain
You can read a full review in the links but we will give a brief summery below each.
Syon House – Brentford – BTDT
Slow service and the coffees were very bland. The only saving grace was the garden centre is pretty and it’s the only option in the area.
The Orangery – Kew Gardens – Loves
One of the best coffees of 2021 the only problem is the location – as you have to pay to get into Kew Gardens in order to get this drink.
Over Under -Battersea – GBNG
Good service and the coffees were pretty good the only drawback is the temperamental opening hours.
Clean Kitchen Club – Battersea – BTDT

Alternatively inside of the Battersea Power Station there is this eatery. The coffees weren’t great but it wasn’t bad but your more likely to go to Starbucks (or so we have found).
Tate Britain Café – Pimlico – BTDT
Very small coffee and the only thing available in Pimlico
Westminster to Embankment – Chains
There is nothing here apart from chains such as Wrap, Starbucks, Pret, Nero etc so if you’re in that area that’s your choices.
The Roasting Plant – Strand/King’s College – Loves
One of Bob’s Favorite Coffee Shops there is so much choice I will never run out!
Rabot 1745 – Borough Market – Loves
The Coffees were really good worth a little walk out of the way!
Peyton & Bryne – GreenWich High Street – Loves
A little ££ but worth it
Well Bean Bakery – Gallion’s Reach – Loves
We have been back here a couple of times now and they have never disappointed.
Of course you can see more of our Coffee recommendations on our map here
